Why Is This Important?

🧠 Boosts Brain Activity and Slows Cognitive Aging

Learning a new language is an excellent workout for memory, attention, and logical thinking. Regular language practice helps maintain mental sharpness and reduces the risk of age-related cognitive decline.

👥 Builds Confidence and Encourages Personal Growth

Mastering a language boosts self-esteem and brings a sense of achievement. It’s a powerful reminder that age is no barrier to learning or reaching new goals.

🌍 Enhances Your Travel Experiences

Understanding a language opens doors while traveling — from chatting with locals to reading menus, signs, and cultural content without a translator.

🌍💬 Expands Social Connections

A new language allows you to make friends across the world and communicate more freely with children, grandchildren, or acquaintances living abroad. It enriches your social life and builds new bridges.

📈 New Professional and Volunteering Opportunities

Many older adults remain professionally active or involved in volunteer work. Language skills broaden these opportunities, especially in international environments.

📚🌟 Sets an Inspiring Example for Children and Grandchildren

Lifelong learning sets a wonderful example for younger generations. When adults continue to grow and learn, they demonstrate curiosity, resilience, and a love of knowledge.

ReVIEWS

What our students write about us

Jacqueline,
Switzerland

“Solving crosswords is a far duller pastime than learning a new foreign language. No doubt about it.”

Matti Kurkela,
Finland

“I completed a wonderful course with Lyudmila Kotane. The course program was thoughtfully and carefully tailored to my needs and interests, covering a wide range of topics — from literature to business articles and the specifics of electric vehicle production. The conversational part of the course was seamlessly integrated with grammar and vocabulary.
What I found especially helpful was how Lyudmila explained the meaning of words through their etymology, drawing connections with other languages. The homework was always engaging and never trivial — it was aligned with my personal interests, which made it even more enjoyable to complete.
Thank you!”

Geir Kolbjornsen,
Norway

“I had a week of intensive one-to-one training in the Russian language at the school. The course was dynamic in that the discussions/teachings were adapted under way. Great flexibility from the teacher who skilfully drove me onwards with new challenges every day. Not a textbook course. Raised my language confidence many levels. I also appreciated the online test prior to the course.”

Hajü Artus,
Germany

“After just one week of an intensive course in Riga, I finally began to grasp the structure of the Russian language and started using it more confidently. The lessons were rich and engaging. We even touched on the topic of theatre, which is something I deeply care about and find very meaningful.

Mit meiner super Lehrerin Lyudmila “

    FAQ

    (Frequently Asked Questions)

Please familiarize yourself with the answers to frequently asked questions about the learning process, formats, course duration, payment, teachers, and more. This will help you get a clearer picture of how we can assist you in learning of foreign languages at “Lingua Sphere” school.

It is important to note that all our methodologies have stood the test of time and have proven their effectiveness in working with students of different ages and motivations.

    What languages can I study?

💡 English, Italian, Greek, Russian, Japanese, Latvian, French, Spanish. Other languages are available upon request.

What if I have a poor memory? I’m afraid I won’t be able to remember words.

💡 That’s a very common concern, and we’re fully prepared for it. Our methods take into account the memory features of mature learners and rely on repetition, associations, and practice. Everything comes with time!

I find it hard to use a computer. Will I be able to study online?

💡 Yes! We provide clear and simple instructions, and if needed, we’ll help you connect and explain how everything works. Even students who’ve never used Zoom before are learning with us now.

Can I start learning a language from scratch?

💡 Absolutely! Many of our students began with the alphabet, and now they read texts, watch films, and communicate. All you need is motivation and regular practice.

Are the lessons individual or in a group?

💡 You can choose the format that suits you best. Individual lessons offer flexibility and a personalized program. Group lessons (up to 6 people) provide opportunities for conversation and shared learning.

How long does it take to see progress?

💡 You’ll likely notice the first results in 2–4 weeks: recognizing words, understanding basic phrases, and using the language in everyday situations. The pace depends on your goals and how often you study.

What happens if I miss a class?

💡 No worries. We’ll offer ways to catch up — videos, extra materials, or rescheduling, if it’s an individual course.

I just want to keep my brain active. Is this a good fit?

💡 Definitely! Learning a language is great mental exercise. It improves memory, focus, and mood. Even one lesson a week makes a difference.

What if older adults have no prior experience with language learning?

💡 Our methods are specially designed to be beginner-friendly — even for complete newcomers.

    How often are the lessons?

💡 You can choose a schedule that works for you: 1–3 times a week, or join an intensive course with 15–20 academic hours.

What if I’m the “least capable” in the group?

💡 That’s a very natural worry. But don’t worry — our groups are welcoming and supportive. No one rushes you, and everyone learns at their own pace. We’re here to learn together, not compete.

I’m over 60 — is it too late to start learning?

💡 It’s never too late! In fact, life experience helps you connect with the language and culture more deeply. We have learners in their 70s and even 80s — and they’re doing great!

What if I feel shy speaking?

💡 We completely understand. In our classes, no one judges or laughs. We create a safe, encouraging space where you can build confidence step by step.
